THE THREAD IS BREATHING / LONE CHRISTENSEN
MARCH 27TH - MAY 20TH 2024
In the inner room of the art gallery, several artworks created using traditional weaving techniques occupy the space. The choice of motifs revolves around spirituality and nature, the great work of creation. The colors of the landscape and the earth predominate, but vestiges of man and industry leave traces through the works. Vast distances, low horizons and beautiful, desolate landscapes are recurring motifs. A world without humans (a world after humanity?) where nature has remade itself anew and incorporated the remnants of civilization in the form of man-made, recycled fibers.
The fibers used in the installation are discarded or forgotten man-made materials, such as lost fishing nets and unraveled packaging materials, that are given new life in these works. The tapestries are collocated to found objects from nature in a total installation.
Christensen's works are combined with a meditative soundscape created by the Aalborg-based sound artist Ric Nitsch with the title Always in motion.
