PROVISIONAL LANDSCAPE
AUGUST 2 - OCTOBER 20, 2019
PETER OLSEN & JAN DANEBOD
In connection with the 10 year anniversary of Kunsthal NORD on August 1. Peter Olsen & Jan Danebod transformed the art centre into a temporary construction site. The two visual artists created their biggest exhibition yet, as one big readymade with over 30 installatoric artworks and sculptural concepts made directly for Kunsthal NORD and Nordkrafts architectonic expression and uniqueness.
The exhibition was given the title Provisional Landscape and presented several artistic media, such as installations, architectonic interventions, sculptural clutters, readymades, printed renderings, casts, text and print.
The exhibition seemed as a subtle artistic comment on Aalborg and Nordkrafts change, and on the uncertain future of Kunsthal NORD and other non-commercial art centres.
Jan Danebod & Peter Olsen are both educated from Det Jyske Kunstakademi in 2006 and 2011. They are both talented visual artists that are known for, both individually and together, their site-sepcific and contextual interventions in both public and semi-public areas, by exposing that which is strange, different and forgotten.
In their ambitious practices, and impilicit social and activistic criticism that challenges questions such as “a good life”, “a sustainable society” and “who has the right to the public spaces in the city”.
They have a common interest in alternative and different ways of understanding the category of artworks; also in surroundings that are not already defined as art spaces.
