Projektet The Eco-Digital Archive tager sin grundform i et digitalt arkiv af levende billeder i forholdet mellem kunst, økologi, økonomi, og hvordan mennesker interagerer og bruger naturen. Arkivets formål er at skabe dialoger og et nyt sprog i relation til de mangeartede problemstillinger vedrørende klimakrisen, bæredygtighed og skiftende økosystemer. Fordi unge statistisk set ofte er de mest bekymrede og handlekraftige i relation til klimaet, er ungdom desuden et tema, der behandles i The Eco-Digital Archive. Således har kunstneren Scott William Raby i tæt samarbejde med FilmMaskinens studerende Magnus Sandvad Thorhauge og Claire Chevalley udviklet The Eco-Digital Archive. I kombination med Scott William Rabys egen praksis The Nomadic Platform for Eco-Economic Futures udgør dette projektets udgangspunkt. Scott William Raby har på den måde kunne guide filmskoleeleverne til at identificere et kollektivt sprog. Ved projektets afslutning inviteres øvrigheden til en åben dialog om projektet for at at skabe en bredere forståelse og dialog omkring klimaet i interaktion med offentligheden.

The project The Eco-Digital Archive explores the relationships between art, ecology, economy, and how humans interact and use natural spaces through moving images. The archive will seek to activate dialogues about climate crisis, sustainability, and shifting ecologies - and use moving images to create new language, images, and actions in relation to these pressing issues. By focusing on climate crisis as a major concern for young people as a point of departure – the youth, or young people. The archive will invite for a pedagogical and participatory artistic process between the artist Scott William Raby who will do a workshop, interact, guide, and collaborate with students from the Frederikshavn FilmMaskinen in relation to the artist’s project The Nomadic Platform for Eco-Economic Futures.

Kunstsatelitten The Eco-Digital Archive

Processen understreges gennem et unikt samarbejde mellem samtidskunsten og et ungt engageret og deltagende publikum. Projektet kulminerer i en midlertidig installation, som vil danne rammerne om en offentlig workshop og dialog.

This process will be highlighted through a unique collaboration between contemporary art and youth audiences in a socially-engaged process. The project will culminate in a temporary public art work taking the form of an installation, public workshop, and dialogues.

Transformationer af landskaber

Kunstner Scott William Raby og studerende ved FilmMaskinen, Magnus Sandvad Thorhauge og Claire Chevalley har besøgt to steder i Aalborg. Stederne understreger sammenløbet af industri, infrastruktur og natur. Rørdal Kridtgrav, som er en af de største kalkminer i Nordeuropa, skaber på grund af sin størrelse en transformation af landskabet med mange store søer til følge. Egholm Færgens lokation er også et kontroversielt sted - tæt på planlægges nemlig et omfattende motorvejsbyggeri, som skal gå tværs over øens økologiske marker for at forbedre Aalborgs infrastruktur.  

En del af produktionen var en Droneworkshop, som fandt sted ved det majestætiske fugleklipper ved Bulbjerg og ved det historiske fiskeleje Thorup Strand. Disse to lokationer understreger forskellige måder, hvorpå mennesker interagerer og konsumerer miljømæssige fællestræk. Fra fuglekiggende turister til et unikt historisk fiskesamfund, afspejler strandene fremtiden, samtidig med at fortiden synliggøres.

Artist Scott William Raby along with FilmMaskinen students Magnus Sandvad Thorhauge and Claire Chevalley recently visited two sites in Aalborg that highlight the confluences of industry, infrastructure, and nature in conflict. At Rørdal Kridtgrav – one of the largest chalk mines in Northern Europe - the sense of scale chalk mining creates in relation to the nearby landscape transformation and creation of large lakes is expansive. The site of the Egholm Ferry is also a contested site – near the location in which an expansive bridge is being planned to create a ring road around Aalborg as infrastructure and ecological spaces.

A part of the documentation took place at the majestic bird cliffs of Bulbjerg and the nearby historic fishing village at Thorup Strand. These two locations highlight different ways and in which humans interact with and "consume" an ecological site and its natural commons. From the birdwatching tourists to the unique historical fishing economy, the beaches foreshadows future while highlighting the past.

FilmMaskinen
giver unge filmtalenter mulighed for at udvikle sig i det kunstneriske arbejde med film. Fælles for filmskoleeverne er, at de har et brændende ønske om at lave film og indgå i de processer, der går forud for en films tilblivelse. Fra FilmMaskinen deltager Claire Chevalley og Magnus Sandvad Thorhauge.

encourages young talented filmmakers to develop their filmic practice in a challenging learning environment located at Maskinhallen where the students through the education try all the processes of a film in the making.

Kunstpionererne 
er Aalborgs deltidsuddannelse for kuratorer. Efter to års undersøgelser og møder med kunsten, afvikler eleverne fra uddannelsen på Kunsthal Nord deres afgangsprojekter - kaldet kunstsatelitter - i syv nordjyske kommuner. Kunstsatelitterne skal åbne op for lokale møder i de udvalgte kommuner.

Udstillingen er en kunstsatellit kurateret af kunstpionerne Naja Lund Sørensen og Sofie Zehngraff.

is Aalborgs educational course for young curators. After two years of studies and meetings with contemporary art, all of the students are about to execute their final projects - called art satellites in seven municipalities of Nordjylland. The art satellites seeks to open for dialogues in the selected municipalities: Mariagerfjord, Rebild, Hjørring, Jammerbugt, Thisted, Morsø and finally Frederikshavn. 

The exhibition in Frederikshavn is a final project curated by Naja Lund Sørensen og Sofie Zehngraff.
