IVAN ANDERSEN
FEBRUARY 17 - APRIL 22 2018
CAMOUFLAGE
Ivan Andersen is an original and visual artist who works with reliefs, painting and sculptural installations. He uses the art to explore and observe reality, and we have invited him to unfold his picturesque practice in three dimensions and in close relation to the specific contextual and architectural environment in Nordkraft.
The exhibition Camouflage will help show how the painting as a genre can be presented in a showroom. Ivan Andersen will both present paintings based on the surface and paintings in the expanded field in dialogue with the art gallery's architecture and visual history. His work will show how we visually read our surroundings, understand shapes and distances, and what happens when parts of this information are lost.
Ivan Andersen (born 1968) is educated from The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts 1999-2005. He lived for a number of years in Berlin, but now lives and works in Copenhagen. He has recently held solo shows at Gallery Bo Bjerggaard in 2017, Rønnebæksholm in 2015, Nosbaum & Reding in Luxembourg (2013) and the Skive Art Museum 2012.
The exhibition has so far been supported by the State Art Foundation, L.F. Foghts Foundation and the City of Aalborg.
