SHOUTING ACROSS THE FENCE
March 19th - May 29th 2016
SHOUTING ACROSS THE FENCE: LINDA BJØRNSKOV // PERNILLE KLØVEDAL HELWEG //
ANNE MARIE PLOUG // MELOU VANGGAARD // MARIA WÆHRENS
We have invited the artist commune SHOUTING ACROSS THE FENCE to contextually create a collectivist and humorous total exhibition.
Inspired by the previously male dominated, raw and ‘masculine’ setting of Kunsthal NORD, the five established artists Linda Bjørnskov, Pernille Kløvedal Helweg, Anne Marie Ploug, Melou Vanggaard and Maria Wæhrens, embraces Kunsthal NORD with terms like gender, body and feministically criticism.
The artists have challenged each ither in an open artistic community where everybody must agree, where the community talks collectivly and not the individual artist. In this way the five individual artist get to work with well known classical methods of avant garde as idealistic collectivism, public provocation, collective happenings and political intervention.
The most significant piece in the exhibition will according to plan be an unprecedented installation concept in Kunsthal NORDs biggest space. An enormous wooden construction and a solid wooden floor that takes the shape of the female symbol, for the audience to walk into, out of and around.
With the title and strong symbolism the piece, set in Kunsthal NORDs industrial surroundings, where men slogged to provide the citizens with heat and electricity, sets the exhibition SHOUTING ACROSS THE FENCEs distinctive storyline.
Overall SHOUTING ACROSS THE FENCE creates an experimental exhibition that challenges the different feministic trends in art and cultural history.
