The performance project Walking Landscapes Aalborg took place 21 June-10. July 2021. Here, 20 artists walked through the landscapes of Aalborg municipality. One artist every day for 20 days. Each hike took 12 hours and was live-streamed. At Kunsthal NORD you can now experience a selection of edited versions of these livestreams supplemented with artifacts from performances, see the route maps for the individual hikes and perhaps be inspired to hike into the landscape yourself?
The participating artists all have a special relationship to the landscape they have chosen for their walking performance. With this knowledge in their backpack, they take us to hidden and forgotten places on a journey into the place's nature, myths, moods and secrets.
They explore the landscape based on each their artistic discipline - performance, visual art, dance, sound… And they use the surroundings as a framework and content for the artistic actions they create along the way. A story, a performance, an installation, a conversation, a drawing, a meeting…
Together, the artists create a vibrant, diverse and surprising interpretation of the Aalborg landscapes with new routes, new stories and new inspiration to explore for themselves.
Walking Landscapes is organized by Metropolis - Copenhagen International Theater in collaboration with partners in the 12 participating municipalities with support from the Nordea Foundation. The main partners in the project in Aalborg are Aalborg Municipality and Aalborg Theater.
