OPENING 28TH OF DECEMBER FROM 2-5 PM
Kunsthal NORD is presenting a selection of Aalborg municipality’s Artfund purchases of art in the years up to 2015. The Artfund consists of both art professionals and politically chosen members and its primary objective is to purchase pieces for decorative purposes in the municipality. The acquired pieces will mainly be placed in public buildings, institutions and offices to please the citizens and employees of the municipality.
EVERYBODY’S ART in Kunsthal NORD is therefore both an exhibition to show citizens the contemporary art that the municipality has acquired, and as a requested exhibition aimed at the municipality’s many institutions that can request pieces on loan for their institution specifically.
The Artfund and Kunsthal NORD hope that many institutions/kindergardens/schools/offices will make use of this opportunity to see the exhibition and also involve children and youth in the wishes and the selection. Pieces bought from 2013 to 2015 that have not been chosen to be part of EVERYBODY’S ART can be seen via a photo documentation which will also be shown during the exhibition in Kunsthal NORD. The exhibition will be shown until the 10th of January 2016.
The Artfund has existed since 1970 and is behind many art projects in the municipality outside and inside. There is ample opportunity to see art purchased by the fund every time you take a walk through the city or visit a municipal institution, school or administration.
The artfund operates from the perspective that artistic decoration is part of making the municipality an even better, more pleasant and inspiring place to live and experience. The Artfund also distributes travelling scholarships to specially talented young artists and have a totalt budget of DKK 375.000 per year.
